ABSTRACT
These approaches to quality of life share a number of characteristics. Some of these relate to obvious issues such as the view that quality of life can be measured in principle. Others, however, are implicit and must be inferred from other evidence. In this chapter, we shall identify and examine some of these issues. Finally, the significance of the social scientific approach to quality of life for clinical nursing practice will be considered.
