ABSTRACT

There is no general rule that allows one to choose a psychotropic drug that is truly adapted to a specific situation. This is particularly the case in cancer medicine, where until now no psychopharmacological research has studied the special needs of cancer patients. This is an omission, for cancer, as we have seen, is a condition where psychological distress is frequent (Holland 1977; Derogatis 1982: Table 5.1).
