ABSTRACT

Next, focus on the story of King John.Tell students that they will study a leader who perhaps lacked many of the qualities that they perceive as being important. Give alternative groups information on the barons and bishops. Based on this, students must produce a charter of five demands from the position of baron or bishop detailing change. Then ask students to move next to someone with a different viewpoint, so that barons and bishops work together.Together they will re-write a final charter on which they both agree. Bring the class back together, and have the pairs report back on their charters. Then show your students the main points contained within the actual Magna Carta (1215).
