Projects consist of a number of tasks and activities and one of the key planning issues is to decide how long each will take to complete and the order in which these should take place. It is not enough to decide how long each individual task will take, because some tasks cannot be started until others are completed. Scheduling involves decisions about timing and sequence. The full costs of a project, both in financial terms and in staffing effort, cannot be estimated until the time to complete the full project outcomes is identified.
