ABSTRACT

The Everyman project was a South London course run for men who had been violent and abusive to their partners and children in the home. It was a project that I was personally involved with for about nine months. I quickly saw important parallels with the school situation. Many of the individuals on the course justified their verbal and physical violence by blaming others for provoking it. Others justified their behaviour by citing important macho principles of honour, revenge and respect. I could see that the principles and the strategies used on the course had the potential for transfer into schools.
