From tribalism to corporatism: the managerial challenge to medical dominance

It has already been suggested that the medical profession has a rather odd relationship with the NHS, in particular the lack of a sense of belonging to a broader organisational entity. This leads one to wonder whether, despite many individual exceptions, the profession’s attachment to the NHS is largely one of convenience or necessity rather than genuine commitment. The sense of attachment or belonging to an organisation could be seen as of negligible importance for the profession as a whole.
