ABSTRACT

Parents may feel ill-equipped to know how to bring safety back to their children when they feel threatened themselves by the complex life situations that affect their daily life. We can allow children to express their feelings and emotions and model for them how we are bringing protection back into their lives as we bring it back to our own. We cannot promise them perfect solutions, but we can sit with them in the process of creating solutions. Sharing honestly our own human feelings and striving to hold the tension of events we cannot control allows our kids to do the same.
