ABSTRACT
Information systems requirements of modern industry will not be effectively handled unless the database is properly organized and there is a rational, taxonomical way to support geographic and functional distribution of information elements. The necessity of this is highlighted by the evolving supply chain perspectives that reflect the growing number of business partnerships and the need to keep abreast of developments taking place outside one’s company in the areas of engineering, marketing, and procurement.
