ABSTRACT
The software industry is renowned for using non-standard terminology in describing its wares. Therefore, it is necessary to define the terms that will be used as well as establish the difference between a new version, major upgrade, or minor upgrade of a programming product. Quite often, for commercial reasons, these terms are used interchangeably.
