ABSTRACT

This chapter will be most useful for Producers, Project Leaders, Development Directors, and other hiring managers e those who work directly on recruiting, hiring, and managing members of game development teams. Entire volumes have been written about effective strategies for hiring great people and managing high-performing technical teams. Two classics that remain among my favorites are Hiring Winners by Richard Pinsker and Jim McCarthy’s Dynamics of Software Development. Lou Adler’s more recent book,Hire with Your Head, is another terrific volume focused squarely on the challenges of effective hiring. This brief chapter is not meant to present a comprehensive discussion of these realms of games creation, but rather to revisit some of the best practices discussed elsewhere in this book, and to show where you might apply specific strategies for making sure the right people are hired and kept on board in order to create great games.
