The chipset industry has so far followed Moore’s Law, which predicted that the component density and computing power of devices will double every 18 months. True to his words, the industry has kept pace with the predictions. However, few, including Gordon Moore, cofounder of Intel himself, could have imagined the new challenges the industry would be grappling with in the mobile world. It was no longer about processing power alone, but also the power consumption and price that needed to go down for Mobile TV to be practical. The chipset industry kept its date with time. Single chips are here for full functionalities of mobile TV.
