ABSTRACT

ORGANIZING CONTENT ON A PAGE Page layout is the area of graphic design that refers to the visual arrangement of text and images on a page. It is essentially the role of visual information management, using the general principles of design and typography to bring order and structure to a page. The term originated in the printing industry as the specialized craft of designing the physical pages in books, magazines, and newspapers. In publishing houses, agencies, and newsrooms, it’s the job of authors, reporters, copywriters, editors, and the like to generate the text (or copy) for visual pages, while photographers, illustrators, and graphic designers produce the images. It’s the job of a layout artist or page compositor to combine the various elements of visual information (text and graphics) within the page, creating a presentation that is both pleasing to the eye and easy to consume.
