ABSTRACT

Before InDesign was even a glimmer in Adobe's eye, bookmarks were a wellestablished feature in Acrobat and what was then Acrobat Reader. Particularly useful for navigating long documents, bookmarks can be created directly inside Acrobat Standard or Professional. Residing in a dedicated panel, PDF bookmarks are similar in function to hyperlinks in that they jump to a specific document location. When created in Acrobat, they can hone in on a particular area of a page at a specified magnification. Bookmarks created in Acrobat can also be tied to actions in much the same way as buttons in InDesign, and they possess similar functionality. They can be used to play sounds and video, open files and web links, reset forms, and more.
