ABSTRACT

The mattes the readers create need to effectively and consistently cover their focus object. These are a few ideas that are briefly covered in this chapter: limit the readers' single splines to one or two edges of the focus object, alter individual points along a spline as little as possible, keep the readers' splines limited to what they were created to isolate, and keep the readers' splines the same relative distance from the edge of the focus object. These ideas all point to one thing: edge consistency. The use and function of shapes are to accurately isolate the focus object. To do this, the shape must not only be created correctly, it must be animated correctly as well. Solution might be to manipulate one of the shapes in Sub-Object mode to match the focus object at the transition point between them. Once the shape matches the focus object, the readers then create visibility key frames when necessary.
