Found light Sometimes we simply get lucky and find ourselves with something great to photograph when the light is perfect as is. These times are gifts. (And “perfect” doesn’t always mean sunny with a bit of cloud cover!)

The image below is an example of not being put off by “bad” weather. The distance from the camera to the ship meant that even the best flash in the world wouldn’t have the power to light the ship. In this case, more light would have ruined the image. Here it was a matter of staying

open to possibilities, sitting and waiting, and getting the exposure right.
