ABSTRACT

Compositing programs have entered the 3D arena by offering 3D environments in which 2D elements can be translated, scaled, and rotated. Nuke adds to this functionality by supporting 3D cameras, lights, geometry, and geometry shaders. The 3D tools are not intended to replace traditional 3D programs, but give the compositor an additional tool set for solving problems. Separately, stereoscopic 3D projects are available in Nuke, whereby left- and right-eye views of the same subject are combined to create the illusion of real-word depth.
