ABSTRACT

Fabrication refers to cutting, and occasionally bending, several pieces of metal to assemble into a whole. The cutting apart and assembly of plastic pieces into larger structures is known as plastic fabrication. We fabricate wood as well, though the terms carpentry and construction are used instead. The three previous chapters dealt with the fabrication of wood, metal, and plastics, respectively. We can now look at some techniques and principles that apply to all three for fabricating objects as robustly as possible. We will also see that we can fabricate structures and framework that are not ultimately seen, but which give the outermost surface its shape and strength.
