ABSTRACT

You still have work to do after your prop is constructed. The surfaces need to be cleaned up to make sure they are free of defects and sharp or jagged edges. If you wish to paint it (covered in chapter 17), it will need to be prepped to allow it to be painted on. If you need a smooth or glossy surface, you will need additional sanding and polishing. Any kind of texture you wish to add will need to be applied. You may also need to coat or seal it to give it additional properties, such as preventing the surface from being scratched off, making it water resistant or fl ame retardant, or giving it more (or less) shine.
