ABSTRACT

Prop making is a dangerous occupation. Tools can cut, and machines can maim. Chemicals can irritate your skin, affect your breathing, damage your brain and other organs, and even cause cancer.

If you are self-taught and work on your own, or if you are new to prop making, you may simply be unaware of what harms you are causing your body, as the products we buy and the stores we shop from do not adequately convey how to create a healthy working environment. A person's occupation affects his or her health the most, and if you wish to continue to work throughout your life, you need to understand, avoid and minimize the health hazards inherent in your occupation.
