ABSTRACT

Vegas offers users several different methods of shifting time or time warping. The first method used for timeshifting will lengthen a video file, but it is also the easiest method of stretching time. In the first region, place the cursor at the right end of the first Event and hold the Ctrl key. The bottom Event is stretched to the preferred time/slow-motion value. Tools like Twixtor will always provide smoother, better interpolation of slowed frames, but the price of the plug-in may be more than a hobbyist will want to spend, and this method works as a “poor man’s time shift” effect. Vegas Pro users may open up the TimeShift.vf file and in the last region, right-click the Event and choose Insert/Remove Envelope, Velocity. Vegas has a unique time-compression/expansion feature called Elastique that is a resampling feature in newer versions of Vegas. Vegas enables users to place FX at the project level, affecting everything on a project timeline.
