ABSTRACT

Transmedia has many definitions, some of them new, some of them legacy and some of them based in non-storytelling mediums, such as marketing, merchandising, and advertising. Comic books and graphic novels are a great medium for transmedia storytelling, both as an intellectual property source and as a medium to extend the narrative. In motion pictures, the designations and roles for members of the producing team have evolved over the decades. Currently, there are several tiers of producer titles, but the ones most pertinent to people as transmedia storytellers are executive producer, creative producer and line producer. Compared to motion pictures and television, video game is relatively new but has grown to rival both in terms of participation and awareness, cultural impact and even production budget and profits. Separate from games are a whole category of applications for mobile platforms that can be created in support of transmedia storytelling property.
