ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book outlines new ways of thinking about and approaching a diverse set of areas ranging from leadership, teams and culture, to strategy, complexity and implementation. It explores the project scholarship by extending the focus, augmenting the vocabulary and energising the potential skillset available to practitioners. The book demonstrates thinking beyond imitation and thus endeavours to focus on the management of projects, people and change required to deliver beneficial, impactful and sustained results. It deals with the re-articulation of the key observations from the volume, rearranged as a manifesto for change in project thinking. The book describes a progressive agenda that encourages new ways of thinking about people in projects operating in change ridden, turbulent and dynamic environments with significant social and political and societal implications.
