ABSTRACT

Most educational institutions do not kick off major projects or initiatives without a detailed plan. The risks are too high. Lean is not intended to be a limited number of projects with a defined end point. It is on-going, lasting years with the goal of creating a continuous improvement culture. It requires commitment, resources and direction if it is to be successful. Converting issues into action statements involves: evaluating the payroll process to reduce errors, overtime and improve payroll efficiency; and evaluating the payroll process to reduce the number of errors payroll receives each pay period and the amount of overtime payroll staff spends correcting errors. It also includes creating a continuous improvement team to evaluate the content and timing of new student communications and reviewing student admissions communications to eliminate confusion to students.
