ABSTRACT

The kama muta psype has co-evolved with the cultural implementations of communal sharing that are important in diverse cultures, and in particular, co-evolved with the drivers that function to evoke kama muta motes. In other words, most kama muta motes are the joint products of the natural selected psype together with culturally selected drivers. But it is crucial to recognize that the environment to which the psype is naturally adapted – the environment in which it enhances fitness – is a culturally realized social environment. That is, the psype adapts to the aggregate of cultures to which it is exposed; culturally informed communal sharing relationships and drivers are the niche that the psype inhabits. In general, the psype responds to socioculturally propitious opportunities for locally beneficial new, enhanced, renewed, or redressed communal sharing relationships. The instantaneity of kama muta probably results from the importance of immediately signaling devotion and commitment to the communal sharing relationship. Kama muta is a commitment device, and any delay in displaying kama muta implies to others that the person is not unequivocally committed.
