ABSTRACT

Navigating the Leadership Roadmap begins, ideally, when the Board of Directors, the CEO, and the Executive Leadership Team provide a policy foundation that energizes change within the organization. If the Board, CEO, and the Executive Leadership Team are not sufficiently enlightened to fulfill this responsibility, other leaders within the organization can energize a change process in their areas of responsibility that serves as a model for others to follow. People are fundamental to all strategic and daily operational systems. In an organization, the term “people” constitutes all employees. As individuals, employees add value to the organization because each person has unique knowledge, skills, and experiences along with creative, intellectual, and problem-solving abilities to contribute to the workplace. With a firm grasp of lean terminology and philosophy, it is appropriate to establish lean system structures. Even with the most carefully structured systems, lean enterprise is only going to be as effective as the implementation of the systems.
