ABSTRACT

“Bring Your Own Cloud” is already being discussed at major computer industry conferences as a management and security issue. Given the difficulties that many organizations have had with Bring Your Own Device policies, getting in front of the personal cloud issue is critical if companies want to avoid potential security disasters. From Swift, a rest-based application programming interfaces for object storage to Keystone, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol-compatible ID management, it is possible to create a complete, functional cloud using OpenStack components. OpenStack’s promise is for an open source and vendor agnostic cloud solution. OpenStack has also grown to include three pieces of software that contribute directly to the security of the project. Anchor, Bandit, and Syntribos each play a role in OpenStack security.
