ABSTRACT

At Kollaa no one thought much about peace. Antero Svensson along with all the Kollaa defenders blindly believed that Kollaa would not fall. The Kollaa defenders continually pleaded with General Hagglund for more help. Hagglund finally sent word that the defenders of Ulismainen would be sent to Kollaa as soon as they had completed their mission. Suddenly rumors of a cease-fire came from the front lines; for the first time, the Kollaa defenders realized that foreign help was not coming after all. Colonel Aaro Pajari promised two of his best battalions to be used for the destruction of the Russians at Tsuhmeikka. The lone Finnish soldier's eyes must always be directed toward the Russians so that he could report immediately to the company. The soldier cried, and through his watery, stinging eyes, he watched the Russian side. A whole new battalion had arrived and the Russians would be beaten once and for all.
