ABSTRACT

The developing States have become aware of the realities of their situation and are demanding justice and equal treatment as a matter of right, announced Salvador Allende of Chile to the 27th opening session of the United Nations General Assembly. The developing States have made equality as a right of States the leitmotif of their appeals, agitation, and argumentation in all international councils. The attempt of the developing States to begin solving their problem of material inequality by legal means is a reversal of the historical process. The developing States want to bring about a desired situation with the help of law. The developing States are freely and voluminously elaborating on the means by which they propose to bring about equality. Economics is, par excellence, the sphere in which the developing States are making their demands for unilateral commitments. The favours developing States are asking of the developed States are comprehensive.
