ABSTRACT

A leader can check emotions as necessary to make the right decisions. Impulsive decisions based on emotions will almost always get a leader into trouble. The established belief is that institutions can withstand a poor or erratic performer until someone or some group comes to their senses and the leader is removed. Donald Trump has changed the leadership thinking as to how much damage or change a leader can induce in four years. The measures of damage or accomplishments may never be the same. The Google credo of “Do No Harm” should apply to all leaders. Miracles might happen in sports and in theater, but rehearsals are good indicators of what a leader will face in the organizational arena. The most satisfied leaders are the ones that dream of big ideas and bring them to fruition. Donald Trump trades in big ideas, implementable or not, but the ideas garner attention.
