Regional identities, maritime networking and Islamic conversions in fifteenth-century Java

Consistent with the scholarship of Michael Pearson that contrasts the variety of historical Indian Ocean networked relationships, especially those between coastlines and hinterlands, this study addresses this assertive self-image of Java’s cultural accomplishments with focus on the Majapahit era’s legacy to its successors.
