ABSTRACT

Carry out an ultrasound assessment of the Achilles tendon, looking for a discontinuity in the tendon and surrounding oedema; if positive, arrange for urgent splinting and orthopaedic review. Wireless ultrasound assessment of the lower leg reveals a normal-sized great saphenous vein, with no obvious reflux. However, the small saphenous vein is demonstrating obvious reflux. The patient is systemically well with normal clinical observation parameters. The patient's superficial femoral artery also appears to have a number of areas of stenotic disease. The patient is systemically well with normal clinical observation parameters. The ultrasound result clearly indicates this patient has vascular disease, and the disease is multi-level. Indeed all such patients should be on best medical therapy and advised to stop smoking. The diagnosis is clinical and the patient may be in cardiac tamponade without echocardiographic features.
