ABSTRACT

Diane Paulus experience in theatre goes back to her childhood, as her father is a director and her mother a passionate opera attendee. Diane Paulus originally began acting only to quickly realize that her skills would be better spent making things happen, rather than hoping to get a call and be cast in a show. She has been an activist since an early age, fighting for the Equal Rights Amendment, Planned Parenthood, and the disarmament movement, to name a few. She is focused on discovering the social necessity that needs to be addressed in each show, and how theatre can harness it and actively promote engagement. She also worked with Cirque du Soleil in 2012, directing Amaluna.
