ABSTRACT

Young Jean Lee playwright, a producer, a director, a filmmaker, and a performer. She is an avid observer of society, with all of its weaknesses, which she translates into writing and reflects back to her audience. She has been featured in American Theatre Magazine, The New Yorker, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and many scholarly research projects. One of her works, Straight White Men, premiered at The Public Theater in New York City under her direction, and was then produced on Broadway by Second Stage under the direction of Anna Shapiro and making Young Jean Lee the first Asian-American female playwright to have her play produced on Broadway.
