ABSTRACT

The RTP or Double Door Transfer Port is one of the most sophisticated transfer devices available to the isolation technology designer. It can be used in a wide range of transfer applications, from liquid products to solid wastes, in sterile and in toxic fields, but, as discussed in Chapter 1, the RTP is not the raison d’être of isolation technology that some would have us believe. It is an excellent device and irreplaceable in many contexts, but it is only one of many devices that can be applied to transfer into and out of isolators. Figure 3.10 shows the author operating an RTP.
