ABSTRACT

Where the isolator is to be used for sterile work, then a biological filter is required on the inlet air. Conversely, where a toxic material is to be contained, then a fine filter is needed on the exhaust air outlet. In practice, filters are fitted to both inlet and exhaust air, in both sterile and toxic applications, mainly to provide a definite barrier to the movement of particles through an unfiltered inlet or exhaust, but also to maintain pressure regimes.
