ABSTRACT
Researchers and scientists are breaking new ground in understanding diabetes, a disease that, despite these advances, is on a marked increase in the adult population. At the Eighth International Barts Symposium, held in London in April 2002, experts from around the world gathered to exchange information on the disease. The emphasis was on diabetic complications, the symptoms of the disease that can occur in all systems of the body. This monograph summarizes the proceedings of the conference, and readers can find expert discussions of new developments in the management of erectile dysfunction, proteinuria, the diabetic foot, and diabetic retinopathy.
