Ambient Interfaces: Design Challenges and Recommendations
Abstract Ambient interfaces go beyond the classical graphical user interface and use the whole environment of the user for the interaction between the user and the system. In this paper we describe the design and implementation of ambient interfaces to facilitate the easy and smooth cooperation and coordination among geographically dispersed team members. We report on results of user involvement in the design and implementation of these ambient interfaces and user feedback from evaluation. We discuss consequences for the design of ambient interfaces and derive design guidelines.
