Current trends in research
In reviewing the current literature on compression of polymers, the following two types of areas appear: general polymers and bioprocess polymers, genetics. General polymers are all non-genetic related polymers and bioprocess polymers are genetic oriented polymers for biological systems. A sampling of the current literature on compression of genetic codes, DNA and RNA, has resulted in new developments in the analysis and use of genetic codes to science and engineering. Bioprocess polymers have advanced to the point of monographs being written in this area of science with the topics of DNA computing and algorithmic developmental processes in nature (Condon et al., 2009).
