Privacy and Security

Given the gravity and ubiquity of data privacy concerns, it is important for health IT professionals to understand the legal context for health data security, the steps that should be taken and monitored to ensure that a provider organization’s data systems are secure, and the range of common security concerns-including types of hacking-as well as the array of safeguards and processes that can be put in place. These include, but are not limited to, firewalls, encryption, virus protection software and patterns, and programming for security.
