ABSTRACT
In his thoughtful essay entitled “Some Unanswered Questions,” 1 Gerald Jahoda poses questions which have long perplexed many who are concerned about the reference function. The questions he raises have to do with 1) the desirable personality traits which one might expect the beginning reference librarian to possess and 2) the knowledge about reference work that junior reference librarians should have acquired and thus bring to the first position.
