ABSTRACT
Librarians, subscription agents, publishers, printers, editors, contributors and readers of journals have a common problem. The symptom of the problem is that the cost of acquiring the journals is greater than libraries’ acquisition budgets. This paper is an attempt to analyse some of the causes and to suggest some ways forward.
