ABSTRACT

I am pleased to be here to start off today’s presentations with a discussion of the impact that CD-ROM technology has had on libraries. Since many CD-ROM products are, by nature, serial publications, this is a timely topic for us to tackle here at NASIG. I have been joined today by Beth Juhl from Columbia University and by Joe Michalak from SilverPlatter. I will try to lay a framework for our discussion by introducing the topic. Joe will share with us his view of CD-ROM technology in libraries from his perspective as a vendor. Beth will detail Columbia’s experiences in adopting this new technology. We plan to allow approximately 45 minutes for reactions and discussion among the panelists and the audience. Please hold your questions until the end of the formal presentations.
