ABSTRACT

The fact that there is a difference between Marx’s Marxism and post-Marx Marxism is almost unknown to the world. Regarding the non-Western world, Marx’s original idea is even more unknown. This is because instead of engaging Marxist original repertoire which includes his Ethnological Notebooks, and consequently instead of engaging the original Marxist multilinear idea of history, a unilinear, evolutionist idea is constructed which inevitably privileges the European life world over Asia, Africa and Latin America. This chapter breaks the myth that Marx was an evolutionist who subscribed to a unilinear theory of history. It offers a democratic, humanist and internationalist understanding of Marx where all the people of the world collectively create a democratic alternative.
