ABSTRACT
This Interlude deals with that kind of aria or presentation of music where singers “stand and sing” – hopefully beautifully – giving lots of sound but not dealing with the meaning of the words. How to counter this tendency is discussed. This is mostly found in bel canto and Verdi operas.
