ABSTRACT
Chapter 9 defines the meaning of what bel canto is – the philosophy of it, if you will – and then talks about aspects of each composer’s style, including Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, and Auber, that differs from the next. The strengths and weaknesses of the forms are also addressed.
