ABSTRACT
– The wildlife trade is greatest in species which supply some form of product, rather than in live animals. Often this is a luxury product, e.g. spotted cat furs, tortoiseshell, ivory, turtle soup, seal and reptile skins. The status associated with such products has meant that high prices are paid and the whole business becomes very profitable.
