ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the trends in aeroponic research. The trend of peer-reviewed papers over the last 50 years clearly demonstrates the growth in interest in this technology from the academic community. The international scope is also clear to see. On every continent, research is being conducted to better understand this technology and the variety of topics and plants is very broad. This is due most likely to the fact that the entire world is facing a food crisis as the population increases and the land availability decreases. It is noteworthy to see that the most papers published are related to seed potato growing. Second are papers focused on technology which indicates the need for innovation. This chapter highlights the broad range of research opportunities available in this field and points out the gaps in our understanding of this technology.
