ABSTRACT
There are many benefits of play on individual growth and development. Children and adolescents with ASD often have play differences that are important for the professional to identify and understand. Chapter 3 identifies common play challenges children with ASD have and discusses the importance of thorough assessment to know where the child’s play strengths and deficits are. AutPlay Therapy is described in detail as a viable option for children and adolescents with ASD, that can promote an improvement in social skills development. The reader will learn how AutPlay Therapy was developed as well as the key components to delivering AutPlay Therapy.
