ABSTRACT

Domain integrals occur in the numerical solution of inhomogeneous partial differential equations (PDE) by boundary integral equation methods (BIEM). Although they do not usually introduce new unknowns, they may be computationally expensive to evaluate. One approach to this problem is to transform the domain integrals into equivalent boundary integrals. This can be achieved by approximating the inhomogeneous term with a series of radial basis functions (RBF) for which the equation is analytically integrable, and so can provide an approximate particular solution of the inhomogeneous PDE.
