ABSTRACT

SMC material is widely used in the architecture field, civil engineering field and other fields. When this material was used in large-scale constructions such as water tank, the strength of the tank was affected by the cyclic movement of water in it, such as up and down of water head, the effect of wind and the other mechanical factors and the effect of chemical corrosion. And also, because SMC usually has much particles of CaCO3 and other fillers, under acid condition the static strength and fatigue phenomena might be affected not only by the influence of mechanical deformation but also by chemical reaction. Especially on the fatigue test of FRP, it was found that increasing internal micro fatigue cracks the stiffness of specimens was decreased. From these reasons, it is assumed that much internal micro fatigue cracks may reach to the surface of specimen and they might make some gates for acid immersion from outside into the material. In other hand, there are few reports for the relation between the corrosion phenomenon and fatigue phenomenon.
